The statue of the Great Elector / The statue of Peter the Great

In 1913 in the Sea avenue (Kurfürstendamm) in Pillau there was erected a statue to Prussian king and the Great Elector Friedrich Wilhelm I von Brandenburg (Großer Kurfürst), who influenced the history of Prussia in the 2nd half of 17th century. After the WWII the monument survived and was moved to the German town Eckernförde, which accepted the refugees from Pillau. Now, there is the monument to Peter I in its place in the Sea avenue. It is interesting to mention that the original basement of the Friedrich I Wilhelm statue is still in Pillau: it used to hold the bust of Lenin in school # 6 yard in Soviet times and is now stored inside the Pillau fortress (Swedish fortress) and may be used as a basement for the Peter I monument in future.
