All that is composed will decay...

The Grand Budapest Hotel, 2014

Jun 24, 2014

That day I had an interview with the Ilmenau University of Technology. Friendly and nice people, Dr. Christina Schumann, Susanne Puschnerus from pruefungsamt and Dr. Andreas Schwarz, the chair of the department of Media studies. But since the university's focus is on research work, there were a number research-related questions (some of them rather tricky, like "What statistical methods have you used when analyzing opinion polls data?).

Anyway, to take my mind off the gloomy thoughts about the anticipated rejection, we went to the movies. It was a grey and rainy day. I haven't been to the private cinema club "Sputnik" for a long time, may a year or two...We were seated in the new small and cozy audience space, just two of us. Maxim brought us green tea and put on the Grand Budapest Hotel as we requested, in English, with subtitles.

A scenic, mesmerizing movie with intricate dialogues and very dynamic plot with all characters being a little bit freaky, but very true and vivid. Poetry, love, adventures, humor - all at the spur of the moment.
